Star Wars In Concert / A Musical Journey

Who among us will first see a performance of the live performance of the touring Star Wars In Concert? To me this is one of the most interesting Star Wars ventures in years. I'd probably go as far as to Atlanta for this so I eagerly await some performances hitting the East. I could even wait till Celebration V if the concert takes place in Orlando at the same time.

Did anyone go to this. In years past I had lots of friends that went, but it seems the economy is keeping more and more people home, at least from my neck of the woods.

However, given that the coverage from SDCC was rampant this year, what's your favorite bit of news from the con?

For me it's probably confirmation that the Star Wars Musical Journey concert that premiered in London a few months ago is coming to Anaheim, CA in October. While I don't think...

Mini MegaCon, 22-23 August

There is a Megacon mini comming in August. August 22 and 23. That is a Saturday and Sunday. I will be attending, helping out an exhibit. Its the return of the Robot Invasion. R2 Builders club will have all sorts of astromech droids and other robots from the film and TV. The big Megacon we had in March, we had a Cylon from the new BSG. So if you are going to attend stop by and say hi.

Just got word that Steve Sansweet has in fact confirmed Celebration V for 2010 during the Star Wars Spectacular at SDCC, but he did not give any details on the location or specific date.

This Friday, the 12th of June, youse guys are invited to my house for the Episode of the Month, Episode VI.

We're still working out a time, but I'm thinking we'll start around 4 or 5pm, depending on what those interested think. This is a very casual get together, not some official meeting. If you can come, I think we're going to have a great time. If you can't, it's no big deal. I look forward to more gatherings like this and hope that other people will post...

Free Comic Book Day, 2 May 2009

Free Comic Book Day is coming on the first Saturday in May. Stop in your favorite comic shop and pick up a copy of a special issue of Clone Wars. Most comic shops roll out pretty good sales that day and there're often special events. Our own Dale (JediScout) often works in costume for Bad Apple Comics and will likely be there again this year.

FX 2009 is coming to Orlando 17-19 April. We're going to try and get as many members there at the same time, so if you have interest and plans to attend, which day would you prefer? So, they decided to push this to April for some reason. I rather liked it being in January as the weather is much cooler and there's normally quite a bit of walking outside to get to the actual event inside. For those that have never been, the Orlando Convention Center is gigantic!

Word on the street is that Star Wars Weekends will return a little later this year, taking over the month of June. Looks like Disney's Hollywood Studios, formerly MGM, will be a good destination for Star Wars fans all the Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays between 6 and 29 June.

With a whopping $20 ($15 online) ticket price for one day I'm not expecting to make it. It's been since CIV that I made it to a con, so it sounds like fun, but I don't think my budget or schedule can fit this one in.
